Wanted in Fairfield: Medical equipment for the handicapped and elderly

We all face challenges in our lives, some challenges are more fortunate than others. A time comes when we temporally need medical items, then what happens to them when we no longer use them? Do we toss them out? Wait until a friend or relative needs them? How quickly does the disabled or the elderly have access to getting these items? Where can these items be donated to?

Tania LeBoeuf learned one day how frustrating it is for the disabled and elderly during this covid time when she left her mother’s walker on the porch while she was bringing her mother into her house. For a short period of time, the walker was left unattended on the porch and it was stolen. She learned quickly there is a shortage of medical equipment due to COVID. Medicare is not helping the disabled and elderly to get the medical equipment they need, and the blame… COVID. On the flip side, she reached out to Norwalk’s community and had a replacement walker within an hour. However, she also noticed the supply of unused medical equipment and wanted to help others who are in need. That formed into her collecting equipment and donating them. She said an upcoming organization is in place to collect the medical equipment, however, they are not in the position to collect equipment right now and she is continuing to help.

She is looking for walkers, shower stools, bedrails, handrails, adult diapers, wheelchairs, transfer chairs, walking canes, hospital beds, etc. She is able to pick it up for you, or you can drop it off. She does this weekly.

The best way to get a hold of LeBoeuf is by sending her a message via Facebook (click here for her facebook profile). Or you can email us and we will make sure she gets the message (submissions@findingnorwalk.com).

(We call Tania an angel for doing this for the community!)
