[Westport, CT, November 12, 2021]: MoCA [Museum of Contemporary Art] Westport invites all high school students to submit works of art for a 2022 High School Student Art Exhibition on view at the Museum from January 29 – March 12, 2022. The works will also be showcased in an online gallery on MoCA Westport’s website.

Submissions should focus on the theme of Identity, a theme that encompasses the memories, experiences, relationships, and values that create one’s sense of self.*

All high school students may submit one work, and all works will be accepted. Works can be in any medium, including drawing, painting, digital/graphic image, photograph, sculpture or video. Submissions are due by Sunday, December 19, 2021.

“We look forward to once again sharing the talent and perspectives of the high school community with our visitors,” commented Ruth Mannes, MoCA Westport’s Executive Director.

“This is a very important show for us and we hope students from across the region will choose to participate. We are grateful for the support of high school teachers in helping us bring the exhibition to fruition,” Mannes added.

The High School Student Art Exhibition will be on view concurrently with an exhibition featuring works from the Westport Public Arts Collections (WestPAC), in collaboration with the Westport Arts Advisory Committee (WAAC).

The 2021 High School Student Art Exhibition, entitled Hindsight is 2020, featured close to 200 submissions created during the year 2020, illustrating a diverse portrait of what young people experienced during the challenging and unique time.

There is an entry fee of $10/entry; scholarships to waive this fee are available. Details on timing and the submission process are available on mocawestport.org. Any inquiries can be directed to Liz Leggett at liz@mocawestport.org.
